About GLOWBAG - developlemt and concept

The inspiration for GLOWBAG came from my personal experience: I am the proud owner of a Chanel Classic Double Flap and a Chanel WOC, both made from the finest lambskin leather from 2013 and 2014. After a short time, I noticed that unsightly stains were forming on my bags. As I apply make-up every day, I quickly realised that it was make-up residue from my hands. But how do you remove such marks without damaging the delicate leather?

I couldn't get any further with a damp cloth, so I tried various leather and shoe care products - from cheap drugstore products to high-priced luxury solutions. The result was sobering: the once deep black leather looked increasingly greyish, dull and stained. Instead of preserving the beauty of my bags, many products made the problem worse.

After intensive research, I realised that most leather care products contain waxes, alcohol or chemical additives - ingredients that are unsuitable for fine leather and can even damage it in the long term. But it was precisely here that I asked myself a crucial question: why is there no leather care product that has really been developed for sensitive, luxurious leather?

I began to look more deeply into the common ingredients and discovered that leather handbags – especially designer bags – cannot be cleaned with just any care products due to their special types of leather and surface structures.

Although many leather care products from drugstores, department stores or shoe retailers advertise that they are suitable for "all types of leather", they usually contain waxes (often beeswax), alcohol or chemical additives. While such ingredients are not a problem for shoes or furniture, they can dry out or even damage fine types of leather such as calf, goat or lamb leather in the long term.

This frustrating realisation was the turning point for me: if there is no suitable product, then I have to develop it myself! But instead of simply creating another leather care product, I took a completely new approach. I consistently left out the classic ingredients from conventional leather care products - no wax, no alcohol, no harmful chemicals. Instead, I was inspired by skin care: after all, leather is nothing more than skin and deserves equally gentle, nourishing care.

I immersed myself in the subject, tested countless formulations and tweaked them until I found the perfect formula for GLOWBAG. The result? A completely new type of leather care - gentle, effective and sustainable.

The best thing about it? All GLOWBAG products are water-based, contain no harmful additives and are made from natural ingredients - gentle on leather and sustainable for the environment.

This is how GLOWBAG was created, the first leather cosmetics range specially developed for designer bags and accessories.
