GLOWBAG was developed specifically for cleaning and caring for high-quality handbags. Fine handbag leather has different requirements from shoes or furniture.

The GLOW CLEANER is a water-based cleaner for suitable smooth and grained leathers and coated canvas, and it loosens surface dirt such as grime, grease and make-up. The GLOW CONDITIONER is the follow-up care for suitable genuine leather. It helps keep the leather supple, makes the colour look fresher and protects against environmental influences such as sun, rain and dust.

The idea comes from skincare: clean first, then condition, matched to the material of your handbag.

The GLOW CONDITIONER contains lanolin, which is sometimes called “wool wax”. That may sound contradictory at first: by “leather care without wax”, GLOWBAG means traditional care and polishing waxes that can form a wax layer on the leather surface. Lanolin is not what we mean.

Lanolin is a conditioning ingredient that is also used in cosmetic formulations. The water-based GLOW CONDITIONER combines lanolin with orange oil as well as soy and grain extracts, among other ingredients, and was developed for the regular care of suitable smooth and grained handbag leathers.

How often you should clean and condition your designer handbag depends on the material, how you use it and its condition. A bag you carry regularly will generally need attention more often than one that is only used occasionally and stored carefully.

You can clean suitable genuine leather with the GLOW CLEANER when needed and then condition it with the GLOW CONDITIONER. Always apply the conditioner evenly across a continuous leather surface.

Bags made from coated canvas don’t need GLOW CONDITIONER. Here, material-appropriate cleaning is what matters.

Yes. Always test GLOWBAG on a small, inconspicuous area before the first application. Leather can react differently to cleaning and care depending on the leather type, colouring, finish, age and previous treatments.

For the test, put a small amount of GLOW CLEANER on a clean, soft microfibre cloth and gently treat an inconspicuous area. On delicate or absorbent leathers, always apply the cleaner to the cloth, not directly to the leather.

After application, check whether the colour, feel or surface changes in an unwanted way or whether colour transfers to the cloth. If so, do not continue.

You should also test the GLOW CONDITIONER on an inconspicuous area before applying it to larger areas.

The GLOW CLEANER cleans, the GLOW CONDITIONER conditions. If you want to clean a suitable leather handbag and then also care for it, the two products complement each other.

On absorbent leather, do not spray the Cleaner directly onto the surface; apply it using a slightly dampened cloth instead.

Allow the leather to dry completely. Then apply a thin, even layer of GLOW CONDITIONER with a soft cloth, gently work it into the leather and allow it to absorb and dry. No polishing is required.

For coated canvas, you can use either the GLOW CLEANER or the CANVAS GLOW FOAM. Which product is best depends mainly on what you want to clean and how intensive the cleaning needs to be.

It is important to distinguish between the coated canvas and any leather trims on the handbag. The GLOW CONDITIONER is not intended for coated canvas; it is designed for suitable genuine leather.

Particular care should be taken with new, very light Vachetta leather, as found on many Louis Vuitton handbags. We do not recommend treating new Vachetta with GLOW CLEANER or GLOW CONDITIONER because this open-pored leather can be particularly sensitive to moisture. We do not recommend GLOW CONDITIONER for patent leather. The closed patent surface does not absorb leather conditioner in the same way as suitable uncoated smooth leather.

If you’re not sure whether your bag is made from genuine exotic leather or simply embossed smooth leather, identify the material before use. If in doubt, check the label or ask the manufacturer.
