GLOWBAG is water-based, skincare-inspired leather care developed specifically for high-quality handbags. As in a skincare routine, cleaning and care are two separate steps.

The formulas are water-based and contain no added alcohol. GLOW CONDITIONER is wax-free and relies on lanolin, orange oil and soy and grain extracts, among other ingredients, to care for suitable smooth and grained leather regularly and keep it supple.

With “wax-free leather care”, GLOWBAG sets itself apart from traditional care and polishing waxes, which can form a wax layer on the leather surface. GLOW CONDITIONER contains lanolin, which in German is sometimes called “Wollwachs” (wool wax). At GLOWBAG, “wax-free” refers to care and polishing waxes. It does not refer to lanolin.

Lanolin is a conditioning ingredient that is also used in cosmetic formulations. The water-based GLOW CONDITIONER combines lanolin with orange oil and soy and grain extracts, among other ingredients, and was developed for the regular care of suitable smooth and grained handbag leather.

GLOWBAG is suitable for many smooth and grained handbag leathers, for example lambskin, calfskin or caviar leather, and, depending on the product, for coated canvas and suitable synthetic surfaces. GLOW CLEANER cleans suitable leather and canvas surfaces, while GLOW CONDITIONER is intended only for suitable genuine leather.

GLOWBAG care products are not suitable for suede, nubuck, velour, highly porous aniline leather or exotic leathers such as crocodile, snake or ostrich leather. If you’re unsure about the material, or if the leather is very delicate or absorbent, check exactly what kind of leather it is before use and test GLOWBAG on an inconspicuous area first.

Coated canvas, as used on many bags from Louis Vuitton, Gucci or MCM, should be cleaned gently and in a way that suits the material. The water-based CANVAS GLOW FOAM was developed for cleaning suitable coated canvas surfaces and can lift surface dirt and make-up residue.

Uncoated cotton canvas behaves differently and absorbs liquid more readily. Deeply absorbed stains, discolouration or colour transfer cannot always be removed by cleaning either. If in doubt, identify the material before use and test on an inconspicuous area first.

Grained Hermès leathers such as Togo and Clémence are usually less sensitive in everyday use than very smooth leathers and therefore often easier to care for. Epsom, with its embossed structure and surface treatment, also has different care characteristics than Box Calf, for example.

Still, not every Hermès leather reacts the same way. Which cleaning and care is suitable also depends on the age, finish and condition of the bag.

Suitable smooth and grained genuine leathers can be carefully cleaned and cared for with GLOWBAG. With particularly delicate or unfamiliar surfaces, always test on an inconspicuous area first. GLOWBAG is not suitable for suede, nubuck or exotic leathers.

GLOWBAG can be used carefully on evenly patinated Louis Vuitton Vachetta leather. It’s important to always treat a continuous area of leather evenly and not just clean individual spots. Because Vachetta can absorb moisture quickly, GLOW CLEANER should be applied with a soft cloth rather than directly onto the leather. Use only a small amount of GLOW CONDITIONER and then let the leather air-dry for at least 12, ideally 24 hours.

New, still very light Vachetta is particularly sensitive to moisture. Here we don’t recommend treating it with GLOW CLEANER or GLOW CONDITIONER. A protector suitable for Vachetta is the better choice.

The natural patina is preserved. After treatment, Vachetta can darken slightly and permanently. Deeply absorbed stains may also remain.
