General bag care
Most leather care or leather cleaning products contain waxes and oils that are simply a little ‘too much’ for the leather used in handbags. Glowbag, on the other hand, is water-based and completely dispenses with the use of wax and instead provides the leather with the right amount of moisture and care - without leaving any residue. This gives the leather of your bag a natural shine. Water-based care products are not new in leather care, but they are rare. Many of the available products also contain alcohol and other chemical components. Glowbag's patented formula dispenses with all of this and instead relies on surfactants and care substances of natural origin - for greater sustainability.
Regular cleaning and care extends the lifespan and ensures that the original beauty of the bag is preserved for as long as possible. Glowbag protects against dirt, discoloration, moisture and other harmful influences.
The Glowbag formula is deliberately water-based and wax-free. In contrast to wax-based leather care products, which apply a protective layer, Glowbag takes a different approach. Wax-based care products can seal rather than remove dirt from a bag. This layer of wax also affects the original appearance of the bag, as it can leave light-coloured residues in the pores of the leather and on the seams. The wax layer makes the leather feel firmer and heavier, and the slightly sticky texture attracts dust and dirt. In contrast, Glowbag's water-based formula allows for easy and even application, aids stain removal and does not interfere with the natural breathing of the leather. In this way, the bag remains protected, retains its original lustre and remains supple.
We recommend cleaning and then caring for your handbag every three to six months. However, this also depends on the frequency of use. The leather also often enjoys an extra treatment with the Glow Conditioner.
Glowbag is suitable for most types of smooth leather. Also for canvas, faux or patent leather. However, it is recommended to carry out a small test on an inconspicuous area before use to ensure that the product is compatible with the leathe
Yes, Glowbag is suitable for all leather colors. Not only does it nourish the leather, but it also helps keep the colors fresh and vibrant. As always, we recommend testing on an inconspicuous area before first use.
Yes, the Glow Conditioner offers light protection against rain/moisture thanks to the ingredients lanolin and orange oil.
However, after purchasing your new bag, we recommend basic impregnation with an impregnation spray. We are already working on a GLOWBAG waterproofing spray!
Due to the impregnation or pre-treatment of the leather, the cleaner may leave wet spots when sprayed on. This especially happens if the leather is very absorbent. No need to worry: the stains will disappear when it dries and it can still be cleaned. It's best to use a soft brush and let the leather dry thoroughly afterwards. EXCEPTION: Glowbag is not suitable for open-pored types of leather such as suede, nubuck, nappa or suede.
We generally always recommend a test on an inconspicuous area.
The bristles of the Glowbrush are made from natural horse hair. These are perfect for leather care. Their softness and fineness allow the leather to be treated gently without damaging it. By transferring natural oils during brushing, the leather is cared for and given an attractive shine. The anti-static properties of horse hair prevent the attraction of dust and dirt, which is important to prevent scratches. Horse hair brushes are also durable and long-lasting. Thanks to their ability to distribute care products evenly, they effectively contribute to the preservation and care of various leather surfaces.
Yes, only natural ingredients are used for Glowbag. Glowbag cleans and cares without alcohol, ammonia or other chemicals.
You should have a wipeable surface or a towel ready before spraying the bag generously with the Glow Cleaner. Also use clean, lint-free cotton or microfiber cloths to wipe dry or work in.
For heavier stains and deep pore cleaning we recommend
First lather the cleaner with the Glow Brush
Application Glowbag
In general, we always recommend testing the products on a concealed area before first use to see how the products behave on the leather as we cannot guarantee 100% that Glowbag will work on every bag. Leather is a natural product and has always been chemically pre-treated in some way. If the cleaner is absorbed directly into the leather, we recommend moistening a cloth with the cleaner to carefully remove stains. The same applies to the conditioner. If the cleaner remains on the leather, it can be sprayed directly onto the leather and the brush can also be used.

In general, we always recommend testing the products on a concealed area before using them for the first time. If you have the impression that a little colour comes off during the first test with the cleaner, don't be put off. As Glowbag does not contain any alcohol or chemical substances, it cannot remove any colour on its own. However, if you have the impression that it has, it may be because the colour pigments from dyeing the leather have not been sealed or have come off over time. The age and condition of the leather can favour this. However, you don't need to worry that all the colour could come off. It is best to use the cleaner sparingly and do not spray it directly onto the bag. Instead, dampen a cloth with the cleaner and carefully rub out the stains. Leave it to dry thoroughly and then be sure to use the conditioner and leave the bag to dry thoroughly.
Yes, Glowbag is versatile and can also be used for other leather products such as shoes, belts and wallets. However, follow the specific care instructions for each product and carry out a tolerance test on an inconspicuous area before using it for the first time.
Yes, canvas bags can be cleaned excellently with the cleaner. The inner lining can also be cleaned with the cleaner and brush. However, the conditioner should only be used on leather parts.
Yes, with Glowbag even smooth leather shoes can be cleaned and cared for. However, due to the heavy wear and tear and weather conditions, shoes should also be treated regularly with a waxy shoe care product to keep the leather supple.
No, Glowbag is not suitable for this. Cleaning and care products specifically designed for lambskin shoes should be used.
We recommend a clean microfibre cloth. A lint-free cotton cloth (e.g. a tea towel or a used T-shirt) can also be used.
The Glowbrush brush is made from natural horsehair. It is completely normal for some loose hair to fall out during the first use. This is because natural hair is not always the same length as machine-made synthetic hair. Our brushes are made by hand and are of the highest quality. The initial shedding of hair is therefore not a quality defect, but quite normal.
Yes, furniture leather can also be cleaned occasionally with Glowbag. It depends on the type and pretreatment of the leather. Therefore, you should test it on a hidden area before use. However, we recommend that you follow the manufacturer's care recommendations.
Yes, the cleaner is an excellent way to clean nylon handles or parts. To do this, spray the part to be cleaned generously with Glow Cleaner and work the cleaner in with a brush. Then wipe with a dry cloth. If necessary, you can also rinse carefully with warm water. If more dirty, repeat the process. After cleaning, we recommend using a waterproofing spray for sports shoes to make it more difficult for them to become dirty in the future.
It depends on the material of the lining. Nyon, fabric, smooth leather or artificial leather can be treated well with the Glow Cleaner. To do this, turn the food outwards and spray it well with the cleaner. Then brush out the dirt with a brush. Allow to dry and repeat the procedure if there are severe stains.
It depends on the ballpoint pen or its ink and the material on which the ink landed. Ballpoint pens can sometimes be removed from fabric or canvas, perhaps not completely. Ballpoint pens won't come off leather. However, the stains may be significantly reduced. We cannot make a clear statement here. Best to try it out. But as always, test in a hidden area first. Otherwise, we recommend a special professional leather cleaning from an expert.
Car seats should only be treated with care products recommended by the manufacturer.
Leather is leather - of course you can also use Glowbag on your leather jacket, trousers and skirt. Don't forget the conditioner after the cleaner. The cleaner is sufficient for artificial leather. Attention: Please use special care products for motorbike clothing. Glowbag is not suitable for this, as motorbike clothing has a protective function.
Types of leather
No, Glowbag is exclusively designed for smooth leather. It is NOT suitable for open-pore leather such as suede or suede or other exotic types of leather such as snake or fish leather.
With nappa leather, it depends on how the leather is processed. It is therefore essential to test it on a concealed area beforehand.
Patent leather is usually calf or cowhide leather to which several layers of varnish have been applied, which creates a mirror-like shine. Patent leather is therefore very sensitive to temperature. Superficial stains on patent leather can be safely cleaned with the Glow Cleaner.
Canvas is a strong fabric woven from natural fibres such as linen or hemp. Today, man-made fibres such as polyester or polyacrylic are often woven into the fabric to increase its strength. Canvas can be cleaned safely and easily with the Glow Cleaner. However, the conditioner is not necessary for canvas bags
Vachetta leather is a lightly greased, fine cowhide. Vachetta is usually a natural, untreated leather. It is characteristic that it becomes darker as soon as it is worn or exposed to environmental influences - it forms a "patina". This is the intention with LV bags, for example. Vachetta leather is very absorbent and easily forms stains, for example from rain. If this is not desired, good impregnation is an advantage. During tests with GLOWBAG, we noticed that strong stains and water stains can be alleviated, but neither GLOWBAG product is able to reverse the patina or aging effect. We recommend testing how the leather and patina behave in a hidden area before use.
No, Glowbag is exclusively designed for smooth leather. It is NOT suitable for open-pore leather such as suede or exotic types of leather such as snake or fish leather.
Glowbag can be used safely on treated crocodile leather that has been given a finish or on embossed (calf or cowhide) leather with a crocodile look. However, we do not recommend using Glowbag on natural crocodile leather without a finish.
