Product description

The GLOW CLEANER is a water-based cleaning spray for high-quality handbags. It lifts surface dirt such as grime, grease and make-up from suitable smooth and grained leather as well as coated canvas. Among other ingredients, the formula contains plant and orange peel extracts as well as glycine.

The GLOW BRUSH made from 100% natural horsehair helps you work the GLOW CLEANER in precisely. The fine, soft bristles are particularly suited to grained leather surfaces and support thorough, even cleaning when the dirt is heavier.

The GLOW CONDITIONER is the follow-up care for suitable genuine leather. The water-based formula with lanolin and orange oil cares for the leather, keeps it supple and makes the colour look fresher. Fine surface signs of wear can look softer. The conditioner also protects against environmental influences such as sun, rain and dust.

GLOW CLEANER: suitable for many smooth and grained genuine leathers such as lambskin, calfskin or caviar leather, as well as coated canvas, patent leather and suitable synthetic surfaces.

GLOW CONDITIONER: suitable for many smooth and grained genuine leathers such as lambskin, calfskin or caviar leather. Do not use on canvas or other textile materials.

Not suitable for napped leathers such as suede, nubuck and velour, highly porous leather or exotic leathers such as crocodile, snake or ostrich leather. For delicate or unfamiliar materials, we recommend testing the products on an inconspicuous area first.

How to use

IMPORTANT: Test on an inconspicuous area before first use.

Step 1: Clean. Spray GLOW CLEANER onto the bag and clean with a soft, lint-free cloth. For heavier dirt, work it in gently with the GLOW BRUSH and then wipe off any residue with the microfibre cloth. If the material absorbs the cleaner straight away, put the GLOW CLEANER on a soft cloth and clean the area evenly and carefully. In that case, don’t spray directly onto the material.

Step 2: Care. Apply GLOW CONDITIONER evenly and thinly to suitable genuine leather with the soft microfibre cloth, massage in gently and leave to dry. No buffing needed.

Caring for the GLOW BRUSH: Mix lukewarm water with a few drops of mild soap in a bowl. Dip the brush in, move it gently and then rinse under running water. Make sure no water gets into the wood. Leave to dry lying flat on a clean cloth at room temperature.

Leather care is just leather care, you might be thinking? Not quite. Fine lambskin reacts differently from grained calfskin, and coated canvas isn’t leather at all. Some high-quality handbags are even made of several materials at once. So their cleaning and care needs differ too.

Founder Story

From an idea to a solution: the story behind GLOWBAG

It all started with my lambskin Chanel Flap from 2012. I loved it and carried it for years. Then I treated it with a leather care product that did it no good at all. The leather turned grey, dull and sticky.

I was disappointed. And angry. Mostly because I thought I had done something good for my bag. While looking for an alternative, I noticed that many leather care products are sold for shoes, furniture and other leather goods alike. But I wanted care made specifically for high-quality handbags.

So I developed GLOWBAG and rethought bag care, inspired by skincare. Cleaning and care are two separate steps, with water-based formulas matched to the different materials of high-quality handbags.

Answers to the most common questions

What makes GLOWBAG different from conventional leather care?

GLOWBAG was developed specifically for cleaning and caring for high-quality handbags and is inspired by skincare. As in a skincare routine, cleaning and care are two separate steps: the water-based GLOW CLEANER lifts surface dirt from suitable materials. Then GLOW CONDITIONER cares for suitable genuine leather and keeps it supple.

Rather than offering one universal solution for as many leather goods as possible, GLOWBAG is guided by the different materials of high-quality handbags, because smooth leather, grained leather and coated canvas have different cleaning and care needs.

Which leathers is GLOWBAG suitable for?

GLOWBAG is suitable for many smooth and grained handbag leathers such as lambskin, calfskin or caviar leather. You can also use GLOW CLEANER on coated canvas, patent leather and synthetic surfaces. GLOW CONDITIONER is intended only for genuine leather.

GLOWBAG care products are not suitable for suede, nubuck, velour, highly porous leather or exotic leathers such as crocodile, snake or ostrich leather. If you’re unsure about the material, test GLOWBAG on an inconspicuous area first.

Can I use GLOWBAG on vintage bags?

Yes, GLOWBAG is also suitable for many vintage handbags. What matters most is the material and its condition, less the age of the bag.

So with vintage bags, check before use what leather or material it is and whether the surface is still intact. On suitable smooth and grained leathers, GLOW CLEANER can lift surface dirt and GLOW CONDITIONER can then care for the leather and keep it supple. Always test on an inconspicuous area first.

Important: patina is preserved. Deeply absorbed stains, discolouration or existing material damage cannot always be removed by care.

Is GLOWBAG also suitable for Vachetta leather?

GLOWBAG can be used carefully on evenly patinated Louis Vuitton Vachetta leather. It’s important to always treat a continuous area of leather evenly and not just clean individual spots. Because Vachetta can absorb moisture quickly, GLOW CLEANER should be applied with a soft cloth rather than directly onto the leather. Use only a small amount of GLOW CONDITIONER and then let the leather air-dry for at least 12, ideally 24 hours.

New, still very light Vachetta is particularly sensitive to moisture. Here we don’t recommend treating it with GLOW CLEANER or GLOW CONDITIONER. A protector suitable for Vachetta is the better choice.

The natural patina is preserved. After treatment, Vachetta can darken slightly and permanently. Deeply absorbed stains may also remain.

How often should I use GLOWBAG, and how long does a set last?

How often you should clean and care for your handbag depends on the material, use and condition. A bag you carry often usually needs more attention than one you use only now and then. So clean and care for suitable leather as needed rather than on a fixed schedule.

A GLOW DUO leather care set with 100 ml each of GLOW CLEANER and GLOW CONDITIONER is enough for about 20 to 30 complete applications, depending on the size of the bag and the amount of product used. That lets you clean and care for several handbags over a longer period.

And if you care for a pair of leather sandals in between: there’s enough for that too, of course.

Nach eigentlich teuren Schuhcremes/Lederpflege war das Ergebnis leider gar nicht gut. Jetzt habe ich das glow duo set bestellt. Ich habe die Tasche nur mit dem conditioner gepflegt und was soll ich sagen, ein tolles Ergebnis. Das Leder ist wieder so weich und gepflegt. Vielen Dank für dieses tolle Produkt.

Meine Bestellung kam sehr schnell an. Die beiden Produkte sind sehr leicht in der Anwendung und das Ergebnis ist fantastisch. Ich empfehle auf jeden Fall auch die Bürste dazu.
Meine LV Neverfull GM in Damier Azur wurde richtig sauber. Der Conditioner hat das Canvas und das Vachetta-Leder super gepflegt. Ich reinige meine Taschen zwar regelmäßig, aber mit diesen Produkten wird mein Schätzchen noch sauberer als sonst. Ein „must have“ für alle Taschenliebhaber.

Really a super product. I had a grease stain on my bag, in the seams. Never expected to get that clean but it is beyond expectations beautifully clean. Everyone should have this product if you have bags, they look like new again. A small investment with great results.
